Every day across Ohio, thousands of men and women work just feet from moving traffic. They repair roads, maintain infrastructure, and keep our transportation system running. It’s dangerous work—even when drivers are paying attention.
Recently, a construction worker lost his life in a hit-and-run incident, and the driver responsible has not yet been identified.
To help bring accountability and answers, Kokosing has offered a $100,000 reward for information leading to the identification of the driver responsible. In support of their effort, PFM Fleet Service is adding an additional $10,000 to the reward.
This tragedy hits close to home for our team.
Our Mobile Foreman, James Davie, has been struck by distracted drivers twice during his career while working roadside. Thankfully, he survived both incidents. Many roadside workers are not that fortunate.
At PFM Fleet Service, we work around commercial vehicles, roadside breakdowns, and active traffic environments every day. Our technicians, mobile service teams, construction crews, tow operators, and first responders all face the same risk when drivers fail to slow down or pay attention.
Behind every safety vest and every set of flashing lights is a real person—a parent, a spouse, a friend—who deserves to go home safely at the end of the day.
We hope this additional reward helps bring forward the information needed to identify the driver responsible and deliver justice for the worker and their family.
If you have any information related to this incident, please come forward to the appropriate authorities.
And to every driver on the road: Slow down. Pay attention. Respect work zones.
Those orange barrels and flashing lights are there to protect human lives.
